WHAT IS IT ABOUT LUXURY WATCHES THAT MAKES SOME PEOPLE GO WILD?

Before answering at that question, let’s talk about a few different views people might have towards luxury watches.

Meet Joe.  Joe has had the same simple watch for years.   When it breaks, he will go down to his local department store and replace it with whatever watch is on sale.  He doesn’t give the purchase much thought.  Picking out a watch is just not an important decision for him.  As long as his watch is working, he is happy.  Joe thinks it is crazy to spend more than $30 on a watch because they all do the same thing–tell time–and there are so many other things in life he wants to spend his money and energy on.  Buying a luxury watch is definitely not one of them.

Meet Jim.Jim does not own a watch right now, he uses his cell phone to tell time, but like luxury cars, luxury watches intrigue him.He loves the way a good watch looks on someone’s wrist, and he immediately has a certain level of admiration for that person.While he appreciates a luxury timepiece, and is interested in learning more about the difference brands and features, he isn’t quite sure he wants to make a significant investment in a watch.

Meet Jack.  Jack currently owns a Rolex Yachtmaster 29mm.  He has had this watch for years and is in love with it.  To him, a watch is not just a device that tells time.  He has a strong passion for luxury watches.  He could spend hours looking at a display case or browsing online to learn about the newest watches and features on the market.  Jack feels that each watch is a timepiece with its own style, minute and subtle details, and identity that make it different than any other watch on the market. 

Most likely, if you have landed upon our website and are reading this, you aren’t like Joe.  Joe will never attach a strong value to luxury watches, which is unfortunate for him.  He is missing out! But maybe you currently relate more with Jim and are drawn to luxury watches, but before making the investment, you are looking to do more research about features and differences and get a better feel for pricing.  Or maybe you are like Jack, and those of us at Luxsly, who already have a strong passion for luxury watches.

People usually notice and admire a fine watch, and those people that take notice are typically also successful.  It is almost like belonging to a secret society, identified by the wearing of a luxury watch, that makes many people passionate about them.   Many people also mark and celebrate career successes by purchasing a luxury watch.  It can be worn on your wrist as a constant reminder of the success you have become, differentiating you from the rest of the pack.   Wearing a luxury watch is a classy way of showing the world one’s taste for luxury without being over the top.

• Quality craftmanship—Lower-priced watches are often manufactured quickly via an assembly line by unskilled workers, without any regard to quality. The exact opposite is true for luxury watches.  These timepieces are created by craftsman, intricately designed, with every surface and detail inspected for quality.  When watches are made at Rolex, for example, they are inspected, checked, and then inspected again to ensure the watch is of highest quality.  Luxury watches can often take months, or even years, to make!  The effort required to achieve this level of perfection is respected and admired by those who have a passion for luxury watches.
• Creation of a Family Heirloom—Given the high value and quality that luxury watches possess, they can become a great family heirloom to pass along to the next generation. A child is often very thankful to receive his or her parent’s watch, the one they admired so much growing up.  It carries a sense of comfort and home and is a great personal effect that has a lot of meaning attached to it.  What a privilege it is to have someone you love wear your watch after you have gone because they want to honor and remember you.  Those who are looking to create a legacy often have a passion for watches they know their heirs will be proud to receive.
